The Court was pleased to bestow two Freedoms by Presentation at its meeting on Monday 3rd of October 2011 and these were conferred following the Court and Livery Dinner in the Hall. The two recipents were Miss Rebecca Thompson and Mr Colin Lomax.
Since the turn of the 20th century, the Company has awarded the Freedom by Presentation to the Top Student of the National Bakery School, London South Bank University. In the early 21st century it was agreed that top students in other bakery colleges could be considered for the award. This year the award was offered to Miss Rebecca Thompson who was the Top Student at the Bakery School of the Food College, University College Birmingham. She was accompanied to Bakers' Hall by Liveryman and her Lecturer, Dawn Gemmell.
Colin Lomax was awarded the Freedom by Presentation for a lifetime of service to the Baking Industry and in particular to bakery education. He is extremely well known throughout the Industry as a problem solver, a judge and a teacher. Many bakers owe their success in the industry to the knowledge and wise counsel of Colin.

At the earlier Court meeting Daniel Ayton (featured earlier in 'News') was admitted as a full Liveryman. The new Liveryman and both new Freemen are welcomed into the Bakers' family and it is hoped that they all will enjoy their time associated with the Company.
