On the 18th January 2012, Court Steward, Jane Houzer who is the Dean of the Business School Faculty of the London

South Bank University that houses the National Bakery School, launched a student mentoring program. The launch took place at an early evening reception at Bakers' Hall when Liveryman Jane talked about the benefit that students would gain from being mentored by members of the Livery as well as to the mentoring Liverymen themselves. Details of the scheme together with application forms can be downloaded in the 'useful downloads' of the Members' section of this website.
The Master also took the opportunity of outlining the interesting programme of events arranged for the year that focus around the Paralympics. He has a very close relationship with Stoke Mandeville Hospital so it is natural that his interests come together in this Olympic year. Full details of the programme can also be found in the Members' section under the heading of 'calendar'.
During the evening Past Master David Powell told the reception about the Company taking part in the Lord Mayor's Show River Pageant. He aso advised that the Company was privileged to have had a place in the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant confirmed, which will make for a spectacular event during the summer. There is a longer term plan to try and acquire a Waterman's Cutter for the Company. This will be in conjunction with other charitable organisations that will be able to take advantage of the facility when not used by the Company.
Court Steward, Liveryman Jane Houzer is seen here adressing the reception.
