The National Bakery School also offers full-time and part-time courses for those wishing to pursue a career in research development, production sales and general management in the bread, cake and biscuit, pie and convenience or frozen food industries.
The National Bakery School's long history of serving the baking trade began over 100 years ago when the National Association of Master Bakers asked the then Borough Polytechnic to set up a trade school to help local young people learn the skills of the crafts of breadmaking and confectionery.

A foundation stone for the new accommodation was officially laid in 1902 and the new National Bakery School was soon able to claim it had the highest number of full time teaching staff within the former Polytechnic, which became South Bank University in 1992 - the same year in which it celebrated its own centenary.
As the baking industry grows, so does the need for new employees with a high level both of skills and motivation. Students of the National Bakery School have excellent employment and promotion prospects and are held in high regard by the industry. |
