Oldest bakery school in the world celebrated the 125th anniversary with the Bakers

The National Bakery School (NBS) at London South Bank University (LSBU) is officially the oldest bakery school in the world this year and celebrated its 125th anniversary on 17th September 2019 with an event hosted by The Worshipful Company of Bakers at Bakers’ Hall.

On June 5 at Guildhall, London, the fascinating heritage of the Bakers Company was revealed by Howard Doble of London Metropolitan Archives, who took Livery Society members and guests right back to 1155 when the City's bakers first appeared in a pipe roll.

Guild of Young Freemen’s Garden Party

It was a fine summer’s day in London as the Guild of Young Freemen gathered for their Garden Party in the green courtyard of St. Michael’s Church, Cornhill. This event, which has been held annually for the past 5 years, is an opportunity for the members to meet together with their families in an informal setting to enjoy each other’s company and a competition for the best cake.

Beating the Bounds

All Hallows By The Tower beat the bounds of their parish every year on Ascension Day, and this year's ceremony took place on Thursday 30 May. The Master, Clerk, Liveryman Alderman Nicholas Lyons, other Livery Company representatives and various distinguished dignitaries were present and joined the Beating Party on the day.
