BUF Zoom Meeting : 'The Benevolent Fund'

BUF Zoom meeting 25th February 2021

BUF members and Liverymen enjoyed a presentation over Zoom last night hosted by Chair Ed Hardman.

The event was well attended with over 30 participants. The topic was the work of the Benevolent Fund of the WCB during the pandemic.

Master Christopher Freeman explained how the Benevolent Fund works and its criteria for giving and Past Master Paul Morrow gave an update on the work with the Shoreditch Trust on proposals to build a community bakery helping the trust to develop programmes to give bakery training to 14-16 year olds in intervention and referral units and 16-25 year olds not in education, employment or training.

Freeman Andy Hooper described his involvement with the participants on a workshop and how he felt that baking bread can give positive experience to those who were previously disengaged.

Liveryman Lewis Freeman described his involvement providing bread and buns for food banks during the pandemic and also talked about how he had adapted Dunns Bakery in response to COVID 19 challenges.

Ed then led questions from the participants.
